wireless wi fi drivers connection

wireless, wi-fi, drivers, connection

Has anyone figured out how to keep the Wi-Fi connection alive for more than 10 mins at a time?
1) I have tried removing IPv6 - trivial improvement only
Also, does anyone know if intel ABG drivers work under vista? IF so, does it provide better wifi connections?

intel's site only has drivers for beta 1, not beta 2. you'll probably have to wait until they come out with better drivers. windows vista doesn't have any major problems with wi-fi. I've had my system (Broadcom 802.11g) running for 2 days straight with no disconnects.

Hello, I have a linksys WRT54G adapter and vista says its a Broadcom 802.11g adapter, so i said fine and cant even see my network. I tried installing WRT54G drivers and vista wont even load up, unless u wait 2 hours or so and it runs at like 100mhz. I was wondering Kip if u knew of drivers that work or are u just using windows vista drivers? and if so how did u get a connection. Thanks.

linksys WRT54G is a wireless router (I have one of those, too). it is not installed in your system, and there are no drivers available for it. the broadcom 802.11g adapter is probably what is installed, and should work with the drivers that came with vista. if it can't see your wireless network, contact the person who set it up for you.

Your right im sorry i meant WMP54G, i have tried the disabling IVP6 and everything and nothing seems to work. It can reconize a network with no WEP but with WEP enabled and the proper key entered, it doesnt even see the network. Any suggestions would be great.

I have the same problem. WRT54GS to a Dell 6000 with an Intel 2915abg card. 64 bit WEP. An occasional connection but nothing that lasts more than a few minutes. I've also tried no encryption with no improvement. All the latest updates and drivers installed on Beta 2.

WMP54G is a broadcom based card, so the vista drivers should work with it. have you tried using wpa or wpa2 instead of wep?

Hi, sorry to jump in on this thread...seems the most appropriate place for me to come rather than setting up yet another wireless query...
I have an Acer 800 with an Intel 2200BG card which absolutely refuses to connect to my wireless network although it will see it in the list. I have a Netgear router which is accessible from the laptop I'm currently writing this on, so I know the reception is good around the house.
Even if I sit right next to the router, Vista simply refuses to pick up a connection. I have tried disabling the IPv6 option and even tried to set the router up to pick up the wireless card in the laptop via MAC address with no luck.
I'm
a little disappointed otherwise as I was hoping to use this beta version as a wireless testbed...
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks "Kip" wrote:
